Hey let's play a game where I pretend that I don't have surgery soon! (Happy thoughts!)

What are you looking forward to lately? Movies, music, books, video game releases, anything! Is an artist you like publishing a sweet coffee table book? Are you already fantasizing about the content of the next Radiohead album? Is your mind reeling from the implications of Pan-STARRS and its 1.4 BILLION PIXEL cameras?? Did you perhaps just order $300 worth of shiny new art supplies? If so what are you going to do with them? Have you been able to secure a quantity of delicious chocolate?

Also. What movies should I rent from Netflix
  • Mood: Eager
  • Listening to: Autumntunes
  • Reading: Foreign policy stuff
  • Playing: FFIV DS

I uhmmm... I'm gonna be moving outta this bum town eventually, which is cool. :la: I'm so tired of it here, there's nothing to do and I can't even buy art suppliesssss.
Other than that, I'm growing ever-closer to actually getting that shiny set of copic markers that I've wanted since I was like.. 13... xD Which makes me squee inside, but I just got a new bank account and I have to get everything all set up first before I can get paypal OTL;; I have a feeling it's gonna be worth the wait though.

Movies? I guess it depends on what genre you're a fan of
but I just watched Dorian Grey a few days ago and it was <333.
As for the mention of Repo I liked it a lot, but then I'm a fan of rock operas/musicals/etc. xD Give it a try~ the alternative feel of it is pretty great

Good for you! It'd suck not being able to buy supplies. I mean it's possible to order online but then you've got shipping time to contend with. I think you'll like Paypal-- I find it really convenient, though I don't make many online purchases these days.

Which version of Dorian Grey? I've seen bits of the 1945 version and it seemed pretty good. I didn't even know that there was a 2009 version until recently. (I do like the book)

I'm definitely a fan of musicals (and actual opera). I saw a few clips at the behest of a friend and while I liked the visuals and singers, the awful drum loops in the music itself really irritated me. I'll probably watch it though since it'll at least be interesting to look at.

Yeah, the 2 stores in town really have no selection so having to wait for the odd time when I do get out of town means running dangerously low on my colored pencils sometimes. D:
I think the best part is reeeally going to be having options. Well, for example, copic markers are $8 each here... Including shipping and currency conversion I can get them for $3 less each online. They'd rip me for every cent I had if I bought a whole set here. xD;;

I watched the new one recently, but I've watched the old one as well and I thought they were both quite good.

I'll admit while watching repo I was a little too involved with the visuals and singers to notice the other parts of the music, but I'm sure I'd catch those bits if I watched it through again. xD;; I get sucked in by the good bits, which is both good and bad.

Online stores are a godsend when it comes to saving money on the more expensive brands. I got lightfast Prismacolors at a rock bottom price during a Dick Blick clearance, yay! I don't have to use crappy colored pencils anymore now xD

Okay, I'll check out the new one then. And it's probably better that you got absorbed and enjoyed Repo. I have a hard time enjoying movies sometimes because I'm so nitpicky :noes: But I'll make sure to watch that too!

I haven't slept properly for about a week, probably running below E if it's even possible I have fit on that chart at this point... So I was rather excited to see a journal posted by one of the most intriguing people I have never really known [you] and then you mentioned chocolate somewhere and my A.D.D.-ness kicked in. So without further ado, I shall now give you nonsense about the wonderful orgasm inducing enigma of chocolate.

--- queue t-t-t-techno ---

When I think of chocolate my brain smears across the inside of my skull like a pat of butter thrown into a hot frying pan, this is almost needless to say since my lethologic mind tends to leak, I use the term leak loosely since I would further upon explanation describe it as the 'spice of a waterfall'. I blame this simple brain abnormality on the reason I remember faces better than English.. I guess I am thankful that I am an artist. Back to the topic, I had a warm cup of coffee by itself the other day, by itself meaning no additives such as sugar or milk/cream, and it reminded me of pure chocolate. I am not however saying that this was 'hot chocolate', simply put the powdered essence sometimes included with fake marshmallows is not what comes to mind when I think of this wonderful pond of heaven in a cup. No I believe that this indeed was the essence of what a chocolate experience should be, and believe you me I have eaten a bit of chocolate from all corners of the planet, I would humor myself so far as to say I am a chocolate enthusiast, but not a chocolate lover because even though I do keep a regular supply of chocolate in my home at all times I will not eat just any chocolate, oh no quite the contrary I am extremely picky.
Normally I WILL NOT eat dark chocolate, the bitterness leaves a filmy aftermath across my taste buds that toothpaste somehow refuses to remove (extremely stubborn and frustrating when you consider shaving your own tongue to get the likes of which out of your system) I have gone so far as to douse the beast with liquid lava which is not to be confused with the pond of heaven, but we will get back to that later. Dark chocolate is an evil beast of Satan and I fail to understand how people enjoy eating it or how it even became popular, then again at the time when Spanish monks had discovered this wonderful thing that has evolved so fantastically, food was sparse and bland so that may account for it.
Milk chocolate on the other hand can be no better sometimes. Depending on my mood and the brand, country of origin AND how long it might have been on your local grocers shelf all come into consideration. Most of the brands I have tasted who specialize or produce milk chocolate come out too sweet. It almost spoils anything you may have eaten before or after. It's sad to say that my teeth are sensitive sometimes and things that are too cold or too sweet can make them ache. It's awful that I love ice cream so. I truly know the meaning of love with ice cream my mouth sings a song that can be heard by the purest, but alas this love hate relationship though flourishing and beautiful is also cruel and deviant (no pun intended)
It also depends on the circumstances and mood a subject is in while consuming chocolate. If I am sad, I don't care, if I am angry, forget about it, if I am happy very-very selective. and another road block, what if it is not just chocolate you are consuming, perhaps the chocolate is only a pearl in this clam shell! Brownies are a fantastic culinary invention but I prefer the moist and delicious fudge-y brownies over much to rich chunky brownies. I also do not like my brownies iced, I believe this to be an insult to the brownie kind. I must say, when paired with fruit I find it a magical and effortless combination. Harmony. Perhaps why chocolate created itself in the first place was to be one day matched in true endless - boundless love.

and if you might ask I don't enjoy white chocolate unless it is combined with cream cheese to form and icing, a garnish on something else (perhaps accentuating milk or dark chocolate) or in my coffee which I oh-so-love.

Dude.

This reply gave me a vision of a youtube vid about chocolate with Goa trance and a female British narrator reading this dissertation in a slow, comforting voice

Personally I hate milk chocolate as a whole and have not found any sort of it that has been palatable to me on its own after I reached age 16. White chocolate is likewise too sweet (and not even real chocolate). I like dark chocolate up until it gets past 70% cacao; it's too bitter for me after that. It's good by itself but I like it best with mint creme, caramel, coffee flavoring, etc.

I am with you, in that I don't think there's any point in eating straight chocolate unless it's really awesome chocolate. I'm not a "chocolate lover" either.

Okay I was going to reply to this journal but then I read this comment and I believe that video would get a retardedly huge number of hits.

$300 worth of art supplies makes me drool just thinking about it. D: One thing to look forward to in 2010 is Final Fantasy 13 release in North America, SO MUCH FANGIRLING. (That, and hopefully StarCraft 2!)

I recommend renting all of the Miyazaki movies for a marathon, just for shits and gigs.

God I love art supplies, even when I don't need any. I have strange impulses to buy various kinds of fancy paper, for instance.

I'm also dying to play 13. Mystic Quest is the only objectively bad FF game I've played and that's... really old. Even if 13 is stupid (like 8) it's still going to be awesome. WoW needs to go away so Blizzard can go back to spending every available second on StarCraft and Diablo. God damnit where is Diablo III you guys?!

I've got some Satoshi Kon queued up, but it's true I still haven't seen some Ghibli classics like Castle in the Sky and Porco Rosso. I will be sure to do that! I need to rewatch Mononoke again, too.

I know how you feel! It's like how those inking pens over at that aisle look ooh so shiny... just to realize that you've probably overstocked on those darned things. ;_;

Ooof, Mystic Quest... I've heard bad rumors about that game. Good to know that's the only mar in Final Fantasy's reputation, though; and for really stupid reasons I kind of enjoyed FF8, if it were only to giggle at how everyone looked ten years older than they should be. (And I agree-- what else are they adding to WoW, anyway? Unicorn mounts? Blizzard's progress with Diablo and Starcraft went downhill after their company was sold.)

Just saw Porco Rosso for the first time a few days ago! Castle in the Sky's a tad different in direction character-wise, but it's still thoroughly enjoyable, as with Porco Rosso. And oooh, which Satoshi Kon movies? :D
