Artist's Comments

AKA: I have no clue how to title it. D:

I'm still very busy. This is part of a school project; I was trying to emulate tenebrism...
Painted in oC, edited in PS7. Reference photo from [link]
Gahh, it doesn't look anything like her! I kept staring at the reference, trying to see what I was doing wrong in vain. Things are getting down to the wire, though, so for now I'll leave it as it is.

The pattern on the band of her clothing wasn't drawn by me. It's been on my computer for a while, though, so I'm not sure where I found it. x_x
Something like that shouldn't be a big deal for me to draw myself but, like I said, it's crunch time over here.
Oh, and one last thing: The canvas texture might seem cheap to you guys, but I really like the way it looks. So, uh... deal with it. xD

I need to sit down and do some commenting around the site, but it would be better for me to get some rest right now. I hope to catch up at dA after finals are over. My classes were just not fun this semester...

Hey, I liked it, and I think there is an obvious resemblance. Like, the only thing you omitted were a few wrinkles, but that`s stylistic, right?

I like the coloring, it is very pretty.

...You suck my friend. (please become a subserviant well-paid artist for my global dictatorship in the future? :3) Not really, but you can tell the artist you were working with (Caravaggio, no?) And even if you didn't make it exactly like her, it's still a wonderful portrait. Besides, everybody knows portrait painters flatter the subject! xD

You make people look aristocratic so easily. Pah. Pah I say! :o

I know what you mean about commenting. I'm just a lazy ho about that.

I like the canvas texture on this. It's really nicely painted! Definitely has that Old Master's oil painted look to it. You're soooooooooooo good!

Believe in yourself, and if those beliefs fail you, then believe in the ones who love you.

Beautiful work as usual! I especially like the hair and the way her skin seems to glow. I wish I could actually watch you paint... BTW - I think the canvas texture adds more than detracts from the image so I wouldn't worry about it :)

I have almost used her stock a couple of times. She has wonderful figure study reference and very pretty features.
You have caught the best of her features. I love the little wisps of hair that you kept, and the shape of the nose is beautiful. The deep contrast of her skin with the shadows looks lovely and the detail on the fabric, when I saw that I was just like :wow:
Your choice of colours works well too. They compliment each other.
It's wonderfully breathtaking.

If doesn't matter if she doesn't look like her, the better! It's an original portrait ^^
Really elegant, and I love how you did her features and hair.

Looks like real media painting. Excellent use of color and lighting. Great detail and execution. I love the hair and I love her face. Makes me think of the late 1800's early 1900's in the style this has been done. Excellent piece! I love it!
